The King's Children
Lo,
children are [a] heritage from the Lord, and the fruit of the womb his
reward
Introduction
They live in dilapidated makeshifts
that go in the name of a house. They loiter from street to street or
estate to estate in search of something to eat.
Some
have parents, others don't. But there's little difference in between.
Their parents are themselves destitute. One meal a day is what they can
at best afford.
You will find them everywhere in Kenya – from the dimly lit streets of
Kenya's towns, to the derelict slums that are scattered all over. Are
these the children of Ham? No! Not by a long shot. They are the King's
children.
The Problem
Increased
poverty in the country and the world at large have led to increased
number of children who are dropping out of school at a very early age
and in lower levels of education. Some do not even get a chance to enrol
in any school at all. Many of them are living in the streets of major
towns and cities or in the slums. They also survive on food from the
dustbins or get a very unbalanced meal if they are lucky to get food
from the kitchen. This is due to lack of shelter and adequate income to
buy proper food. Some are employed as cheap casual labourers in their
endeavour to meet their basic necessities, thus child labour.
This is because their parents cannot sustain them due to rising
inflation and increased unemployment in the country and the world at
large.
We therefore seek to give these children a
normal life by providing these necessities and education in general
through inviting sponsors in the world to help these children and support
them as the Lord Jesus enables them.
By assisting these needy children, you will forever put a meaning to their
lives. As we make this appeal to you, we realise that there may be many
questions in your mind as to whether your donation will reach the intended
children. I can only tell you that all donations towards this project will
not be diverted to any other use. I will also make sure that sponsors
maintain contact with these children by facilitating communication between
sponsor and child. We will also maintain a profile of every sponsored
child on this site. Updates on the progress academically or otherwise will
be available to respective sponsors on regular basis.
Sponsorship
If you would like to
serve the Lord by assisting these children, please contact Jane Mwangi (pictured)
at
jane@swordofthespiritministries.net
with details of your donation. We will then dispatch the donation to the
relevant school or to the purpose intended if
need
be we do it ourselves.
Alternatively, we could advise you on how to get your donation to the
intended school or purpose directly.
I am a Social Worker who holds a
BA degree in Sociology. I have worked at Rongai Child Development Centre
- a Compassion International - Kenya aided Project. After leaving the
job, God had already put in me a burden of assisting needy children to
lead a normal life by providing for their needs. With SSM Ministries, I
want to facilitate the poor children both locally and internationally to
get sponsors for their education and other basic needs.
