Brief
Explanation of the Ministry
Charisma Ministries is an interdenominational organization working with
churches in reaching people who have not heard the gospel. The
Ministries’ mission is taken from Acts. 4:20: For we cannot but speak
the things which we have seen and heard And also from Isaiah 62: 1: For
Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will
not rest until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness and the
salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.
Based in Nairobi, but with a wide outreach program, the Ministries’ vision is to be witnesses unto Christ in the entire world and to build the Charisma Evangelistic Training Centre. The Centre will be used for short time courses and training and mobilizing believers to evangelize. For we must declare his glory among the nations; his marvelous works among all people Psalms96: 3. The Centre will be equipping the believers to reach the unreached.
Background
of the Ministry
After high school, she held open-air meetings in different parts of Kenya. The Lord opened doors for her to witness in churches of different denominations and also in educational institutions. He assured her that the gospel she was preaching would take her to different parts of the world.
She came from a poor background and could not imagine how that was possible. The Lord told her that when she has Him, she has everything she needs in this world. In 1975, while holding an open-air meeting in Nairobi, a white man from Norway passed by and stopped to listen. He approached her with a prayer request at the end of the service. His wife and him were separated. The wife and the children lived in Spain. He wanted God to reconcile them. They prayed and after a month, the Lord brought his wife and children back to him after several years of separation. Then, the Lord told this man to remember the girl who prayed for him and pay for her ticket to a conference in Israel. Katherine Kuhlman was the main guest speaker. Since then, God has taken her to many different places both within the country and abroad to share with his people about the great salvation. She has witnessed many captives being set free.
In 1994, the Lord led her to begin Charisma Ministries. She identified the need to reach those secluded either by place or beliefs to know the gospel of Christ. At the same time, she realized the need to mobilize believers in the work of evangelism. There are still many tribes and ethnic groups in Kenya who have not heard the gospel. They are still in darkness. These people need the light and Christ is the light. This is why we urgently need the Training Centre for we are losing thousands without knowing Christ every day.
Objectives
of the Ministry
To reach out to all parts of the nation of Kenya with the Gospel of Christ. For we have been commissioned to go because the harvest is ripe. Matt. 24:14
To disciple new converts as they are lead to churches that can help them grow spiritually.
To work with churches in bringing up the new converts churches.
To mobilize individuals to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
To prepare an army of the last days harvest.
To teach and train people how to reach Muslims and win them to Christ.
To involve the youth in street witnessing through music and other creative activities.
To encourage and support the upcoming preachers. They are released to do what they have been called to do.
Statement
of Need.
As the world grows smaller in size and more intricate in values, it
becomes even more difficult for people to find time and space to relish
the basic truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has therefore become
increasingly important that those who have heard the gospel be reached out
to wherever they are.
Despite the developments of Information Technology, millions of people have still been left out of the fad and necessity of IT because they either live in remote areas or are limited to what they get to see and hear. At the same time, those who have access to these and other information dissemination tools such as television are still not adequately provided with the essential gospel of Christ.
In Kenya, there are parts of the country whereby the gospel has not been preached. Some of those unevangelized people are Dorobo, Oma, Pokomo, Boni, Sanya, Sakuyo and many others. The Ministries aim, therefore, is to mobilize people to reach them with the gospel by training them. By doing so it will be possible to spread the gospel as a team because God has an awesome plan for taking the gospel to the unreached and his plan includes you.
However, the ministry is not limited to the nation of Kenya as we intend to reach the Muslim nations that have not been able to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our deepest desire is to win souls for Christ. We must evangelize for half of the world’s population has not heard about Jesus.
The Ministries motto comes from the book of Acts 4:20: “We cannot keep quiet but tell the world the things we have seen and heard”. The Lord is calling us to arise and shine, for they light is come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you, our people are covered by gross darkness. Isaiah 60:1
At a conference in South Africa in 1997, it was revealed that out of the 42 tribes in Kenya, 22 have not been reached with the gospel and that there is not a single church found where they live. This information challenged my life and the Ministries. God placed in my heart that we needed to mobilize more believers to reach the unreached people. As a result of this, the idea for an evangelistic training centre was born.
The Centre will emulate other successful training centers such as Haggai Institute of Singapore. This project will be the first one in Kenya and the East and Central African region. It will be a vital tool that will touch the world. As has been said, Africa will be the springboard of the revival in all nations of the world. There is no better timing as this. A need for the Centre, which could facilitate the efforts to take the Gospel where Christ is not yet known, is great.
Charisma works together with churches of different denominations.
Measurable Objectives
The Centre will include:
Conference Facilities to be used for other religious activities
A prayer centre that will be open to people from different denominations.
A Dining Hall.
Boarding facilities.
4 Ultra-modern training rooms with a capacity of 10 students each at a time complete with translation facilities.
All these will go towards ensuring a sustainable centre to ensure self-reliability.
Funding
We intend to raise money through several channels both here in Kenya and
outside the country. We shall expand all our energy and resources until we
achieve our goals. We believe nothing is too hard for God. Lk. 1:37.
