One of the most innate reactions of mankind when they are wronged is to hit back in like manner. The phrase tit-for-tat has often been applied by many people in reaction to wrongs perpetrated on them by their enemies. However, the most effective form of revenge is to do that which your enemy does not expect you to do. Instead of hitting back with vengeance, hit them back with the love of God. By doing so, you will in effect be messing with their heads. The Bible compares this sort of forgiveness to heaping coals of fire on their heads. If we can all learn to love our enemies and to do good to those that seek to harm us, then the world would be a better place to live in.
