Have you ever wondered why people give evasive answers or absolute lies to questions? Well, it is because they are not used to telling the truth. In a world where no one wants to be wrong, telling lies has become not only fashionable, but also a habit. Lets look at a few instances where lies are peddled as truth. Example one: Why didn't you call me as agreed? 'Well, er, I was too busy. I spent the whole day in meetings.' Perhaps a more truthful response to this question would be; 'I forgot'. Example two: Why have you come to work so late? 'Well, er, er, I was held up in the traffic.' Good answer, but the truth is that you overslept! We have become so conditioned to telling untruths and half- truths that it does not bother us anymore. Why, for instance, would someone victimize you for oversleeping just that one day! If we all got into the habit of telling the truth, we will have less stress and we will feel better about ourselves. No wonder Jesus said that when we know [and speak] the Truth, that Truth will set us free (John 8:32). Allow Him to set you free today. Have a truthful day - by Innocent Mwangi
