About a week and a half ago, I dedicated three issues of this newsletter to 'character'. I revisit the same subject in this issue for emphasis. Character defines who we really are. If you are to be broken down into components, the most important ingredient in you will be your character. In the Bible, when Moses asked God what His name was, God's answer - 'I Am Who I Am' - was a definition of His character - the all-powerful, ever-present, all-knowing God. In short, God described to Moses what constituted His very essence - His character. In a world where fads and hype have become the driving force behind fame and popularity, it is important for us to be men and women of good character. A good character defiantly stands firm in the face of tumultuous vicissitudes. What kind of character do you have? How do people describe you? More important, how can you describe yourself? To borrow a line from a petroleum company, 'what drives you'? If you can answer these questions honestly, then you will, without doubt, be looking at your character. If you don't like what you see, don't worry. All is not lost. Character can be developed. List the attributes that you would like to define your character and then model yourself according to those attributes. Before you know it, you will have become who you want to be.
