Exultation

The children of Israel, under the command of Joshua, had to wait for the opportune time to seize the city of Ai, which the Lord had given them. Joshua and his rag tag army could have chosen to concentrate on the difficulties of seizing the city. Like the city of Jericho, which had fallen to Joshua's army earlier on, Ai was also a strong and formidable city. But God provided an opportunity for the Israelites to seize the city. Rather than concentrate on the difficulties, Joshua and his army waited for the God-appointed opportunity and seized the city of Ai. To be successful in life, we must learn to concentrate on the time-specific opportunities that frequently visit us. We are often faced with two choices - a problem and an opportunity. It is up to you to decide whether you will seize the moment and take advantage of the opportunity at hand, or to concentrate on the problems that often stick out like a sore thumb. As you ponder your next move, remember that while opportunities are time-specific, problems tend to linger on for a long time. - By Innocent Mwangi
