I can't recall who first said that 'honesty is the best policy.' I'll go a step farther and say it's the only policy. Unscrupulous people may enjoy temporary spoils as a result of underhand dealings, but sooner or later the law catches up with them. Dishonest people are liars and swindlers. One lie, however subtle, leads to another, and, before long, one becomes a chronic liar. Rather than offer truthful explanations, dishonest people, when confronted, always look for excuses. However, if you are honest and truthful in all areas of your life, you will never be afraid of telling the truth. In so doing, you do not only become wise, but you also get God's approval.
