When Kenyans elected a new government to power, they did so on the premise of the promises made by NARC, the current ruling party. One of the many ambitious promises NARC made was the provision of free primary education. The minister in charge of the implementation of the free primary education, Prof. George Saitoti, reacting to the chaos that greeted the first day of implementation quieted the critics of the government by saying: 'we will deal with the problems as they come'. Procrastination is the worst enemy of progress. The ideal time to implement your dream is today - not tomorrow! Many doubted the NARC government's resolve to offer free primary education, but today this programme has been effectively implemented. Though there are many hurdles to be surmounted, Prof. Saitoti is dealing with them as they come. - by Innocent Mwangi
