If you are like most people, your first reaction to criticism is to defend yourself. Most of us don't like it when people point at our faults and weakness. And yet all of us have shortcomings in one area or the other. Unfortunately, it is impossible for us to know our faults and weaknesses unless someone else points them to us. Criticism need not necessarily mean that we are incompetent. Objective criticism aims at strengthening us by highlighting our shortcomings with a view to addressing them. Although being showered with praise due to our good attributes is motivating, we can use objective criticism as an elixir for overcoming our shortcomings. Have a critical day! - Innocent Mwangi
